World EV Day 2026: loveelectric Drivers' Impact

September 9, 2026
We're marking World EV Day. Every car delivered to loveelectric drivers this year will go on to rack up 65.5 million zero-emission miles and save nearly 11,800 tonnes of CO2 - plus, 6 in 10 of the EVs we delivered were used.

World EV Day falls on 9 September every year - a global day recognising the shift to electric driving, run by the World EV Forum.

At loveelectric, it felt like the right moment to take stock of what our own drivers have actually achieved this year - not in slogans, but in numbers pulled straight from our own delivery data.

65.5 million zero-emission miles

The EVs delivered through loveelectric over the past 12 months will clock up an estimated 65.5 million zero-emission miles over the course of their leases - and save around 11,797 tonnes of CO2 in the process. That's roughly the equivalent of the carbon absorbed by 117,000 trees over ten years.

That's what happens when thousands of individual decisions - one driver, one lease, one switch away from petrol or diesel - all add up.

(based on a standard 10,000 zero-emission-mile and 1.8-tonne CO2e per vehicle per year benchmark - a conservative figure, since our drivers' actual average mileage runs around 16% higher than that).

More drivers choosing Reloved®

More of those drivers are choosing a Reloved® used EV than ever before. 6 in 10 of the EVs we delivered this year were used - up from 57% last year and 37% in 2024. Electric driving isn't just for new-car budgets, and that shift is exactly why.

Tesla continues to outperform other brands

Although there's a plethora of increasingly affordable challenger brands, Tesla continued to be our most popular manufacturer. Both the Model Y and Model 3 received the most orders throughout the year. Although the Polestar 2 wasn't far behind in third place.

We do suspect however, that the story might be a little different for World EV Day 2027...

Every one of those numbers is a driver who decided an EV made sense for them - on cost, not just carbon. If you're wondering whether it could make sense for you too, search the range of electric cars available through loveelectric, or check your company's eligibility.
